Millions of adults enjoy the benefits of dance, and now children can too. In response to requests from parents, many who enjoy the social and health benefits of a regular schedule of dance lessons, Arthur Murray International launched Arthurâs Kids, an innovative and exciting music and dance program that introduces children to the fundamentals, including rhythm and timing, with dance and creative movement through movement, dance and music games, all the white learning the finer points of social graces. The program includes the fundamentals to the Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, Cha Cha, Hustle, and more.
Arthur’s Kids goal is to teach children, tweens and teens the basics of good social skills via the medium of ballroom dance. Arthur’s Kids is an ongoing medalist program that allows students to earn certificates and awards recognizing their achievement, using proven Arthur Murray teaching techniques.
âœWe know the fantastic benefits adults achieve through ballroom dancing, and kids can obtain even more from an active dance life. Learning to dance gets them moving, and it teaches social skills, how to interact with other children and adults, in a way that is positive and productive,â said John Kimmins, President of Arthur Murray International, the global dance studio that celebrates its 100th anniversary of teaching the world to dance in 2012.
Boys and girls who enroll in the Arthurâs Kids program are taught to respect each other and treat each other with courtesy on and off the dance floor. They learn confidence and social skills, taught by skilled and enthusiastic instructors. The skills that they learn on the dance floor can be carried out outside of the dance studio and throughout their lives.
Today, Arthurâs Kids is based on the highly successful and beloved Arthur Murray system of learning to dance. Arthur Murray started teaching in 1912… 100 years ago, and interestingly enough, it was a childrenâs class! He developed instruction methods, dance manuals, popularized the printed dance steps for his students in a simplified format.
The iconic Arthur Murray dance schools celebrate 100 years of teaching the world to dance in 2012. Today, Arthur Murray Dance Studios can be found throughout America and Canada and in Australia, Brazil, England, Italy, Germany, Latvia, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, UEA, Egypt, South Africa, Japan, Taiwan and Puerto Rico.
