New Executive Director Joins Gilda’s Club Madison Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis., Dec. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Gilda’s Cub Madison Wisconsin is proud to announce the addition of Lannia Stenz as Executive Director. Stenz joins Gilda’s Club Madison in December of 2011 with more than a decade of non-profit management experience. Stenz, who has overseen both multi-county and state-wide organizations, is an alumnus of the University of Northern Iowa and currently resides in Waunakee, Wisconsin. Her work experiences have included hosting counseling sessions for youth living with a mental health diagnosis or addiction, acting as first program director and then executive director during her seven years with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Iowa, managing grants and government relations for Easter Seals Wisconsin and, most recently, working as executive director for NAMI Wisconsin. Stenz has an immense passion for the mission of Gilda’s Club due to her own familial experiences with cancer and firmly believes in the power of education and support. Please assist the board and staff in offering Lannia Stenz a warm welcome!
About Gilda’s Club
Gilda’s Club is a cancer support community in Madison for anyone whose life has been touched by cancer – men, women and children, their families and friends – at any stage of the cancer experience. As part of an international network of affiliate clubhouses anchored by Gilda’s Club Worldwide, Gilda’s Club Madison will offer a free comprehensive program of lectures workshops, social activities, support and networking groups as an essential supplement to medical care.
Not only does Gilda’s Club offer support for those with cancer, but it also provides support for the entire family throughout their entire journey with cancer.
Our club is a welcoming environment away from the emotionally charged health care setting where people can just be themselves and share their thoughts and interests with others. Gilda’s Club Worldwide and The Wellness Community joined forces in Nov. 2009 under the affiliation name of the Cancer Support Community.
It was Gilda Radner’s visits to a Wellness Community during her bout with cancer that inspired Gilda’s Clubs as we know them today. Together, The Wellness Community and Gilda’s Club offers about 50 locations throughout the US and Canada for people to come together to find the emotional and social support during their cancer journey.
