Rehabmart.com, an online e-commerce company that sells rehabilitation and medical supplies, has combined forces with LegiGuide, a company that specializes in the manufacture of handwriting paper for special needs children, to offer this special product to a wider consumer market. Jorge Ochoa, an Occupational Therapist, developed the LegiGuide handwriting paper from his years of experience with working as an OTR for the Edgewood Independent School District. He knew firsthand what kind of paper would be required to help special needs children develop better writing habits and skills.
The LegiGuide handwriting paper facilitates correct letter formation, spacing, sizing and placement of letters on the line. The vertical lines form boxes to control spacing, the yellow horizontal lines control the sizing, the bottom horizontal lines give extra visual cuing for proper placement of the letters on the line, and the shaded area creates enough spacing for the descension of letters, including g, j, p, q and y. The handwriting papers can be used with all students for instruction and remediation, but were specifically designed with special needs kids in mind. A rhyme at the bottom of the LegiGuide papers give a reminder on how to hold the pencil correctly, as well.
“We are proud to offer the LegiGuide handwriting paper to our customers,” said Hulet Smith, Founder and CEO of Rehabmart. “We believe that this product will greatly help enhance the handwriting skills of special needs children and inspire more confidence and a sense of independence.” The LegiGuide paper comes in three sizes; wide, medium and narrow, to more specifically match up with any child’s unique needs and goals.
