New Partnership Mobilizes Online Food Safety Resource to Highlight Award-Winning Antibacterial Hand Towel

February 10, 2012

GFSR announces new partnership with Cascades Tissue Group, pioneering innovative solutions for the food Industry.

Newmarket, Canada (PRWEB) February 10, 2012

Today Global Food Safety Resource Centre (GFSR) announced a new partnership with Cascades Tissue Group, based out of Quebec, mobilizing social media and online resources to inform the food community about an innovative hand drying solution developed by Cascades.

Cascades´ Green Antibacterial Paper Hand Towel — also known as The Intelligent Paper® was developed as an innovative solution to take control of bacteria and improve hand hygiene. As highlighted by the Public Health Agency of Canada, nearly 80% of common infectious diseases, such as the flu or cold, are spread through hand contact. In terms of food preparation, pathogenic bacteria that cause foodborne illness can also be hand transmitted. Food companies employ standard best practices for hand hygiene, but human behaviour is subject to variability that can impact results.

Currently available in Canada only, Cascades developed the Intelligent® antibacterial hand towel to improve best hand-drying practices with innovative technology.

The key feature of this antibacterial hand towel is the ability to offer a long-lasting antibacterial effect. The towel was designed specifically to compensate for less than perfect hand hygiene practices without changing people´s habits. Despite best practices, the safeguard of a high-performance hand-drying method provides additional protection. A more effective hand washing process means less bacteria on the hands for longer, and increased hygiene for operations overall.

Cascades Tissue Group was recognized when invited by the International Conference on Prevention & Infection Control (ICPIC) to present its Intelligent® antibacterial hand towel, a privilege given to only 14 new products worldwide. The Intelligent® antibacterial hand towel was also recently awarded the Stevie trophy by the 8th International Business Award Gala held in Abu Dhabi for Best New Product or Service of the year, in the health category.

In keeping with its mission of communicating resources and solutions to the global food community, GFSR is branching out to maximize awareness of products and technologies like Cascades Intelligent® antibacterial hand towel, using online mediums such as http://www.globalfoodsafetyresource.com delivering Social Media Blogs and eNewsletters, such as: Food Safety in the Global Village and eye on Food Safety, plus YouTube and Facebook to reach the food industry like never before.

Social media platforms are innovative in themselves for disseminating information, and particularly beneficial to a sector as globalized as the food industry. Through their partnership, GFSR and Cascades share a common mandate of informing the global food community of new ways to minimize food safety risks, sharing innovation through safety and communication. GFSR provides the communication side of the partnership, while Cascades Intelligent® antibacterial hand towel provides a cutting-edge example of new options being made available to improve food safety.
