Frank Higgins, President & CEO at Nestle Prepared Foods Company, knows how important the March of Dimes mission is to giving every baby a healthy start in life so he has taken on the role of March for Babies Cleveland Chair to raise awareness and important funding to provide for babies who are born premature or with birth defects.

March for Babies, the March of Dimes largest fundraiser, helps fund lifesaving research and educational programs aimed at helping moms have healthy babies. Last year in Cleveland, more than $460,000 was raised to support this cause. This year, March for Babies Chair Frank Higgins will focus on recruiting new companies to participate and lead the community in making a difference for the health of moms and babies.

“As a business leader, this campaign gives me and my company a unique opportunity to help the community we call home. And as a father, I can’t think of a more important cause than our babies,” said Frank Higgins, who will be kicking off the campaign on Tuesday, February 21 to request support from local businesses. “Every 4 1/2 minutes a baby is born with a birth defect in the U.S. — and that’s just not acceptable. It takes the dedication of everyone working together to ensure moms have healthy pregnancies.”

Cleveland residents can sign up today at www.marchforbabies.org and start a team with co-workers, family or friends. Last year, more than 3,000 people attended the event–which will be held this year on Sunday, April 29 at Voinovich Bicentennial Park.

“We’re so excited to have Frank Higgins on board to help us at the local level,” said Karen Keller, State Director for the Ohio March of Dimes Chapter. “His passion for the cause and commitment to helping families will be a huge driving factor in the success of our event. We are grateful for his commitment.”
