Enhancing Independence: UDS Launches Online Store for Accessibility and Mobility Products
PA-based non-profit expands its impact with virtual store and resources
LANCASTER, Pa., Feb. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — A Pennsylvania-based non-profit whose mission is to improve the lives of people with physical and age related disabilities by helping them live independently is expanding its offerings with the opening of a new ecommerce store. In early February, United Disabilities Services (UDS) launched its Online Store at estore.udservices.org featuring a variety of bathroom accessibility products carefully chosen by the organization’s experienced staff.
The UDS Online Store is a natural extension of the organization’s programs and services that help people with disabilities, including the elderly and veterans, enjoy safer, happier and more independent lives in their own homes. Individuals, caregivers and remodeling contractors can now access detailed information, get expert advice and purchase products such as home modification showers, grab bars shower seats and more – all from the convenience of their computer.
“With the Online Store, our aim goes beyond offering products. We’re offering the kind of expert advice and knowledge that comes only from years of experience in serving the unique needs of people with disabilities and those who want to remain independent in their own homes as they age,” commented UDS Accessible Home Modifications Director, Kirk Hummel. “Bathroom accessibility is just the first step in a longer term plan to add other accessibility and mobility products that meet our strict standards of not just quality and accessibility but ease of installation and use.”
The Online Store currently features accessibility products that can be ordered by individuals or contractors for their own installation. UDS Accessible Home Modifications can provide consultation anywhere in the United States and offers installation service in Lancaster and surrounding counties in South Central Pennsylvania. Products such as stairlifts and doored bathtubs are also available for sale and UDS installation in the Central Pennsylvania region. A live chat feature and informational resources encourage visitors to get expert advice from the organization’s team of professionals.
The new ecommerce initiative is part of the UDS’ broader goals to position itself as a leading accessibility and mobility equipment provider and independent living resource throughout Pennsylvania and beyond. The new site prominently promotes UDS Accessible Home Modifications’ renovation, remodeling and construction experience, which is a critical resource for “do-it-yourself” and smaller professional contractors who are not accessibility experts.
“Every time a customer chooses our products or our team for renovation consultation, it helps UDS continue to enhance the resources we provide online and those life-enhancing services we can provide throughout Pennsylvania like custom wheelchair seating, youth sports and recreation and service dogs,” commented Cindy Davidson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing
