Deep vein thrombosis affects approximately two million Americans each year. Blood clots may travel to the lungs, block circulation and cause a pulmonary embolism (PE), the most common preventable cause of inpatient death. Many of these deaths are highly preventable through the use of clinically-proven thromboprophylaxis methods, such as the ArjoHuntleigh Flowtron intermittent pneumatic compression systems, which reduce the incidence of DVT formation in patients at risk and drive efficiency, patient safety, and quality care in a cost-effective manner.
