New Health Movement Launches, Offers Solutions to Healthcare Crisis
Natasha Deonarain, a medical doctor from Arizona, announced today the official launch of The Health Conscious Movement. The movement is far-reaching and seeks to bring together a community from all sides of the medical and health spectrum with individuals struggling in today´s healthcare crisis. The Health Conscious Movement has a core philosophy where people can self-direct their health options. It´s targeted to the millions of uninsured but middle-class, working Americans who still cannot afford the skyrocketing cost of health insurance.

June 2, 2012 — Natasha Deonarain, MD, MBA announced the official launch of The Health Conscious Movement which will bring together communities and organizations of conventional doctors, wellness, health, fitness and nutrition experts, spiritual, energy and natural life practitioners, yoga therapists, dance instructors and many more in a massive online collaborative set to transform healthcare delivery in America.
“Health is life,” says Deonarain simply. “We´ve strayed so far away from that basic understanding. We´ve lived to prevent disease and paradoxically, we´ve become diseased. It´s time to offer a new-roadmap from which to operate and empower people in America.”
Deonarain discusses this new perspective in her upcoming book, The 7 Principles of Health due to be released in 2013.
“The healthcare system is designed to keep us sick and poor,” says Deonarain bluntly. “In fact, doctors like me are trained to focus on disease and not health practice. But there is a different way to see and do things where we don´t have to be afraid to find health because we´re so focused on disease outcomes. It involves working together as a community that shares knowledge among practitioners. The doctor alone should no longer be in charge of health.”
Deonarain is no stranger to challenging convention. Over the last 7 years, she´s opened and operated urgent care clinics integrated with chiropractic, massage therapy and acupuncture. She´s now trying to take this concept to a national level.
“Doctors should learn from the business experts and niche their disease expertise with those who practice health,” she says. “For example, what´s wrong with working in unconventional ways with spiritual healers, fitness experts, coaches, meditation and yoga practitioners, energy medicine healers as long as it brings our patients to total health? Many patients are already creating these personal networks because modern medicine hasn´t offered them a way to find lasting health.”
Deonarain envisions a massive network of like-minded people who come together online and break down barriers of communication between medical professionals and other providers of care. She sees this as a trend set to change the way healthcare is delivered in America.
American´s spend $33 billion dollars on complementary and alternative medicine therapies including yoga, energy medicine, Tai Chi and Qigong, according to the National Center for Health Statistics and the 2007 National Health Interview Study (NHIS). Dr. Deonarain plans to use these trends to spearhead significant business alliances with key industry leaders as an offer to individuals who are seeking a new way to find health and enjoy life inside a medical system that´s rapidly failing.
“It´s a way of getting an honest conversation started between the medical profession and what patients are desperately doing to find health in all this mess.”
