EHE International Supports SHADE Foundation in Mission to Fight Skin Cancer
NEW YORK, June 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — A window display at Rockefeller Center this month reminds us of the importance of sun protection while enjoying time outdoors. This public health message is a collaborative effort among the SHADE Foundation of America, the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) SunWise program, and the National Park Service (NPS). The display provides information about the health effects of overexposure to the sun, and demonstrates how everyone can put “Slip, Slop, Slap and Wrap” into action: Slip on a shirt, Slop on sunscreen, Slap on a hat and Wrap on sunglasses. The window space at 10 Rockefeller Plaza, donated by EHE International, will house the display throughout the month of June, which also coincides with Great Outdoors Month.
“EHE International is happy to donate the window in Rockefeller Center for the month of June to the SHADE Foundation,” said Deborah McKeever, President of EHE International. “Together, we hope to inform and raise awareness about the importance of sun safety and skin cancer prevention.”
“Skin cancer can strike any age and ethnicity,” said Shonda Schilling, melanoma survivor and founder of the SHADE Foundation. “Since one in five Americans gets skin cancer, it is essential to communicate the message of prevention. SHADE thanks EHE International for the opportunity to use the window to educate the public about being SunWise while spending time outdoors, especially in our wonderful national parks.”
