Plano, TX (PRWEB) June 07, 2012

Today HomeCEUConnection.com announced a new set of Speech-Language Pathology continuing education webinars broadcasting live on June 8th, 9th, and 10th. Presented by Angela Mansolillo, MA/CCC-SLP, these three courses total 15 hours of comprehensive material covering dysphagia assessment, treatment and management. Registration is now open for the sessions below:

Angela’s first course is designed to assist clinicians with decision-making. “Dysphagia clinicians are faced with large amounts of information from a variety of sources, some of it conflicting, as we struggle to provide our clients with the best advice and counsel” Angela imparts. “Current Topics in Dysphagia Management”, a 6 contact hour course broadcasting on Friday, June 8th, 12pmEST, reviews available evidence in a number of areas of dysphagia management including use of thick liquids, exercise and electrical stimulation, and risk factors for aspiration pneumonia to aid in this decision-making.

The second webinar in Angela’s series addresses concerns relating to dysphagia in public schools. “There is increasing awareness among school personnel that dysphagia in children must be addressed within the context of their educational services” Angela explains. “Concerns about choking and aspiration risk, nutrition and hydration, participation in meals and snack times, and general health have led to an increase in dysphagia services in schools.“Transitioning Dysphagia Treatment into Public Schools” broadcasts live on Saturday, June 9th, at 10amEST. The 6 contact hour course is designed to increase awareness, increase skills in assessment and treatment, and address the legal and ethical considerations that arise when treating dysphagia in the context of the school program.

Angela’s final webinar, “Dysphagia in Head and Neck Cancer” broadcasts live on Sunday, June 10th at 1pmEST. “Cancers of the head and neck make up approximately three percent of diagnosed in the United States and have a high likelihood of resulting in dysphagia symptoms.” she explains. “This 3 contact hour course will discuss treatments for swallowing problems resulting from the cancer itself and from the treatment for the cancer.”

Angela Mansolillo, MA/CCC-SLP, is a board recognized specialist in swallowing disorders. She is currently on staff as a Senior Speech-Language Pathologist at Cooley-Dickinson Hospital in western Massachusetts and serves as adjunct faculty and clinical supervisor at Elms College.
