1DegreeBio Expands to List Custom Research Services

June 22, 2012

Independent life science product review site now includes 36 types of
custom research services

TORONTO, June 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ – 1DegreeBio.org launches its custom
services listings today, where providers can list their custom research
services for life scientists. The new listings will allow 1DegreeBio’s
online community of more than 75,000 scientists to easily find custom
research service providers, as well as review services they’ve used.

“We are very excited to add custom research services to 1DegreeBio,”
said Alex Hodgson, Managing Director, 1DegreeBio. “We’ve seen a huge
increase in the number of service providers in recent years. This has
made it challenging for providers to connect with customers and
difficult for customers to identify the best provider for their needs.
Our service listings will simplify that process.”

The listings are searchable by company and type of service, including
custom antibodies, assays, cloning, gene synthesis, cell line services,
custom proteins/peptides and gene profiling. Like other products on
1DegreeBio, service providers are ranked in search by community reviews
and recommendations.

“As a research service provider, we applaud independent sites like
1DegreeBio promoting accountability and quality in our industry,” said
Alan Sawyer, Founding Director, Paratopes Ltd., a UK based, spin-off
company of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory’s Monoclonal
Antibodies Core Facility. “These listings will help consumers quickly
find the provider they need, and promote the visibility of top quality
service providers.”

The listings complement 1DegreeBio’s existing independent database of
research-grade antibodies and kits. The new service listings may be
found at http://services.1degreebio.org.

“1DegreeBio’s continued expansion into new life science products and
services will go a long way to help scientists to find the best
provider in a rapidly growing pool of options,” said Hodgson. “We are
proud to support the scientific community in this way, so they can keep
doing great research.”
