Healthy-Lifestyle School Assemblies Funded To Improve Health Status Of Children Grades K-8
WYOMISSING, Pa., June 22, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Life in Sync, an established non-profit 501c3 organization is underwriting hands-on school assembly programs nationwide that will help children make healthy nutrition and fitness choices to reverse the obesity epidemic and diseases associated with weight gain. The first assembly program to receive funding is HealthBarn USA, a proven leader in healthy-lifestyle education, for its effective “Try It, You’ll Like It” assembly that has reached more than 30,000 children since 2005.
Life in Sync’s contributions are already making a difference in the New York Metro area for 3,500 K-8 students, including children with special needs. “What a game-changing experience for our students, 65% of whom receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch, who had never tried many of the fresh fruits and vegetables served today because of lack of exposure and reliance on packaged foods,” said Anne Petekiewicz, school nurse, Lime Kiln Elementary School, Suffern, NY. Because of the HealthBarn USA Assembly, students in Newark, NJ said they were saving their own money to buy more fresh foods. “The students told me it was their favorite assembly,” added Mrs. Jackson, principal, First Avenue Elementary School, Newark, NJ.
Financial contributions go directly to fund nutrition education in schools. “We know our donors’ money is spent effectively to make a difference in children’s health by partnering with cutting-edge, hands-on educational programming such as HealthBarn’s,” stated Cynthia Lynn, president, Life in Sync. “I believe change has to have the word FUN in it. We have streamlined the grant process to make it easy for schools to apply. Our targeted mission is to reach children inside schools – but outside the classroom – interactively, inexpensively and, based on feedback, extremely effectively,” added Lynn.
Life in Sync is a non-profit 501c3 organization started in July 2011 and based in Wyomissing, PA. It welcomes donations by those who are passionate about the future health of our children. All donations to Life In Sync are covered under federal IRS codes of the United States and are tax-deductible.
