Delray Beach, FL (PRWEB) July 03, 2012

HealthyAnswers.com relates that research has shown that poor sleep habits can result in poor health. They cite research from the University of Chicago that has shown that getting less than 6 hours of sleep at night can result in obesity. With less sleep, certain hormones responsible for shutting off appetite correctly are not secreted and people eat more as a result. In other research out of Norway, fibromyalgia has been found to be associated with poor sleep; tinnitus, a hearing abnormality, has been found to be associated with insomnia in research out of Detroit´s Henry Ford Hospital; cataract formation has been found to be associated with lack of sleep in a study out of Denmark.

HealthyAnswers.com medical expert, Mark Rosenberg, M.D., explains the significance of sleep to good health: “Many people are leading hectic lives and burning the candle at all ends. The result is they are borrowing sleep time to cram all these activities into their schedule. They don´t sleep enough and their health is taking the toll from it. In fact, more and more research comes across my desk everyday on the dangers of not enough sleep and the illnesses it can cause. Sleep is crucial to health as it is the time when the body repairs itself. People who sleep less than 6 hours a night are not getting the full benefits of this repair time. There are many ways to help get more sleep at night including exercise, decompressing from stress and making use of relaxing, sleep-inducing substances, like those included in Restalin, by Vitalmax, or certain teas like Rooibos and chamomile, or even just drinking warm milk.”
