Polar RCX3 Heart Rate Monitor – Size Matters
The Polar RCX3 is definitely a tester favorite at the Heart Rate Watch Company blog for men and women with smaller wrists. It fits better and provides speed, distance and heart rate data for a wide variety of sports.

Heart Rate Watch Company blog recently completed a testing comparison of the new Polar RCX3 and found that the profile fits smaller wrists very well. The watch also does everything the Polar RCX5 does except swimming, intervals and the race pace feature for cycling.
Heart Rate Watch Company blog recently did further review and specifying for the new Polar RCX3. “Our findings were that this is truly the first watch from Polar that really fits small wrists well that uses all of the GPS, foot pods and accessories” says Rusty Squire, President of the
Heart Rate Watch Company. He adds, “The women’s RCX3 band is 3/8 of an inch wide whereas the Polar RCX5 band is just over 3/4 of an inch wide, which is twice as big”.
Other dimensions standout as well like the Polar RCX3 for women weighs 1 ounce, whereas the RCX5 is just under 2 ounces which is almost twice as heavy. “To women these subtle nuances can make a big difference on comfort, fit and perception” states Squire.
Even the men’s Polar RCX3 is somewhat smaller than the RCX5. The men’s RCX3 weighs 1 1/2 ounces, about 1/2 ounce lighter than the Polar RCX5. The face dimension of the Polar RCX3 for men is 1 3/8 by 1 3/4 inches, whereas the Polar RCX5 is 1 5/8 by 1 3/4 inches, so the Polar RCX3 has a more slender profile.
“The men’s Polar RCX3 will fit 5 1/2 inch wrist up to 8 1/8 inches, whereas the Polar RCX5 will run from 5 1/2 inches to 9 inches” states Squire. He adds, “The women’s Polar RCX3 can fit a wrist from 4 3/4 inches all the way up to 7 3/4 inches, so it fits a very small wrist”.
Both the Polar RCX3 and Polar RCX5 watches work with the new G5 GPS sensor and clip to provide GPS speed, distance and post-exercise mapping information. Both Polar watches also work with the S3-plus foot pod. Both watches also work with the Polar WIND speed and cadence sensors.
“The biggest differences between the Polar RCX5 and Polar RCX3 are that the RCX3 is smaller, doesn’t have race pace for cycling, does not include interval training programs, and is not made for swimming like the RCX5″, says Squire. He adds, “The Polar RCX5 is an end-to-end triathlon solution while the Polar RCX3 is for runner’s, cyclists and gym goers”.
If there is a big conclusion from Heart Rate Watch Company blog’s review of the Polar RCX3 it would be that size and weight do matter to smaller men and women that desire less bulky devices.
