The debate which has raged about the impact of the MMR Vaccine for the past few years has been recently rejuvenated. However, based on new theories proposed by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride and a compelling article posted at Health and Wellness portal BeWellBuzz.com, the debate has introduced a new element as to the reason why the link between MMR Vaccine and Autism exists.

The MMR Vaccine has been in use in the United States for several years and is known as a three-in-one vaccine for preventing Measles, Mumps and Rubella. The first MMR shots are given to children when they are between the ages of 12-15 months and a second shot is provided to the same child prior to age six and usually prior to entry to most public schools in the United States.

The original controversy was engaged by Dr. Andrew Wakefield, a British Gastroenterologist who raised concerns about the safety of the MMR Vaccine as far back as 1998. His claims that the MMR Vaccine lead to development of Autism and Chronic Bowel Disease were struck down by the general health community such as the World Health Organization, who are strong supporters of the MMR Vaccine, by their claims his research had fundamental flaws in the way evidence was collected and the limited amount of people studied.

According to several published news reports in 2011, including one by CNN, Dr. Wakefield’s report was fraudulantly filed due to allegedly misrepresenting the facts of the subjects and even altered the medical histories of those who were tested. To this date, Dr. Wakefield maintains his research was accurate.

However, several medical experts believe there is a very simply way to reduce the potential impacts of MMA Vaccine and Autism. According to Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride and her book, Gut and Psychology Syndrome: Natural Treatment for Autism, Dyspraxia, A.D.D., Dyslexia, A.D.H.D., Depression, Schizophrenia “the human stomach, brain, and immune system share a profound dynamic interaction. She goes on to state that “severe damage to the gastrointestinal system can lead to autism in children. However, this could be the reason why only a few children have symptoms of autism after being given vaccinations like MMR, while a majority of children don´t.”
