After-Hours Crisis Hotline for CDPHP Members
Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan Announces a New Resource That Provides Emotional Support to Those in Need.
Albany, NY (PRWEB) July 24, 2012
CDPHP® knows that a mental health crisis can happen at any time. That is why the health plan is offering its members access to a new after-hours hotline that will provide emotional support and crisis de-escalation for those in need.
CONTACT Lifeline, a program of Family & Children´s Service of the Capital Region (FCSCR), will connect CDPHP members with a local mental health professional who will offer a safe and supportive listening environment.
The hotline will be available from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. weekdays, as well as weekends and holidays, beginning Wednesday, July 25.
Members can reach the line in two ways, via the CDPHP Behavioral Health line at 1-888-320-9584 (a message will prompt callers to select option “1”) or via the crisis line directly at 1-855-293-0785. The Behavioral Health line is also printed on CDPHP membership cards.
“This new hotline will provide a supportive listening environment for CDPHP members who are experiencing an immediate crisis with the intent of de-escalating the situation,” said Robert Holtz, vice president of behavioral health, CDPHP.
CONTACT Lifeline will offer referrals to community resources and services. CDPHP will provide follow-up case management with members and behavioral health care providers. If the member does not have a behavioral health provider, the hotline staff will offer and schedule a counseling appointment with FCSCR staff the next weekday.
“This collaboration gives CDPHP members yet another avenue to get the assistance they need regardless of the time of day,” said John D. Bennett, MD, president and CEO, CDPHP.
In addition to offering additional access for CDPHP members, this effort has also created four new jobs at FCSCR.
“We know that people can be evaluated and supported effectively on the crisis hotline,” said Jill Wolski, director, CONTACT Lifeline.
CONTACT Lifeline is nationally accredited as a crisis center by CONTACT USA.
