Health Conscious Movement Founder to Speak at Grand Rounds on Balancing America’s Healthcare Model

August 18, 2012

The founder of the Health Conscious Movement, Dr. Natasha Deonarain will present “The Sickest Patient in the World” at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine Grand Rounds on August 17,2012 in Tempe, Arizona. Her focus centers on breaking down the separation between conventional and alternative medicine to create the footprint for a new paradigm in health.

Tempe, AZ (PRWEB) August 18, 2012

Natasha Deonarain, founder of the Health Conscious Movement announced today that she will be reaching out to naturopathic doctors and alternative providers to invite them to align with conventional medicine to offer integrated health solutions to Americans.

“Separation between modern medicine and complementary practice is keeping Americans sick and poor,” states Deonarain. “Patients are confused about total health options inside a system that drives them to think and become diseased. They´re now demanding that doctors and other health providers work together, regardless of which side they´re on. It´s no longer about sides. It´s about solutions.”

The National Health Statistics Reports 2009 showed that Americans spend $33.9 billion out-of-pocket visits to complementary and alternative medicine practitioners (2007). Almost 38% of adults and 12% of children under age 18 used complementary and alternative medicine treatments.

“Americans spend the most of any country in the world on both disease care and health practice,” continues Deonarain. “A different paradigm is the solution. This paradigm begins with balance and integration. It also begins with health instead of an obsessive focus on disease.”

The Health Conscious Movement is Dr. Deonarain´s vision of full collaboration in health care. Based on the principle that health and healing can only be determined by the individual and not by external stakeholders or mandates, Deonarain sees direct communication, internet access, communication and full collaboration between doctors, naturopaths, chiropractors, massage therapists, energy medicine practitioners and many more as the future in health for Americans.

“When we judge our peers from alternative practices, we close doors for our patient´s healing simply on unsubstantiated opinion, not research,” says Deonarain. “The Health Conscious Movement is about waking up to total, integrated health from this new paradigm and supporting the principle that health is life and includes every aspect of our lives. It´s ironic how our current healthcare model punishes lack of health instead of encouraging the discovery of optimal healthcare. Punitive measures leads to stress and anxiety and disease results at many different levels. The way to reset this paradigm is through a movement in health that´s for the people, by the people.”
