BERWYN, Pa., Aug. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — John McCaffrey and Lisa Hoekstra, owners of Devon Fitness Club (http://www.devonfitness.com) in Berwyn, PA, received the honor of Best of the Best for their Personal Trainers from Suburban Life Magazine in July 2012.

The couple built Devon Fitness Club in 2001 to offer the community a sophisticated environment, challenging workouts and personal attention to motivate and engage its members. The facility was designed and built by McCaffrey. It boasts luxurious lockers rooms, an infrared sauna, group exercise, Spinning, massage therapy, nutrition services and a juice bar fully stocked with water, sports drinks and a variety of fantastic protein smoothies for which they are known.

Members have another great advantage in reaching their fitness goals — a team of dedicated award-winning personal trainers, who provide customized one-on-one sessions, focused on weight loss, toning, athletic training, and overall fitness. New members may have up to three complimentary sessions (depending upon the membership they choose).

McCaffrey says the benefits of a trainer include holding clients accountable for their daily and weekly goals including eating habits, weight loss, strength and endurance.

“People are good at doing the same thing; we are creatures of habit,” Hoekstra warns. “We get comfortable doing what we know how to do, and we can get ‘stuck’ doing the same things time after time. Eventually, without the help of a trainer, we plateau.” This is where the assistance of a trainer can be invaluable. She says some clients have been using the same trainer for over 10 years. “Even when you know what you are doing, working with a trainer brings so much more to your workouts.”

“We hire [our trainers] for their expertise personalities,” McCaffrey says. All of Devon Fitness’ personal trainers are certified and some carry specialized degrees in sport-specific training. Each trainer has his or her own motivation for doing what they do; some have a military background, while others compete in marathons or coach team sports. Devon Fitness does its best to match each client with the trainer best qualified for one’s specific needs.

“The client’s goal is the trainer’s mission,” Hoekstra says. “They are working for the client to maximize the client’s goals. The trainer’s mission is to help the client achieve their goal.”
