New Sam’s Club Adds Savings in South Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb., Aug. 24, 2012 After serving the Lincoln community for nearly two decades on 27(th) Street, Sam’s Club today announced the opening of a new Sam’s Club in south Lincoln on Wednesday, Aug. 29, following an 8 a.m. ceremony. The new club, located at 8480 Andermatt Drive at the intersection of 84(th) and Highway 2, is easily accessible to south Lincoln residents and surrounding communities along Highway 2.
“Our Sam’s Club associates have listened to members’ requests to open a second location and we’re proud to bring Sam’s Club values to the south Lincoln community and beyond,” said new Club Manager and Lincoln native Jon Rowe. “For years, our Sam’s Club Members have traveled from Lincoln and the entire region to shop with us. Now, when members drive from Nebraska City for day trips or to visit the many colleges and medical centers in the city, Sam’s Club will be a convenient retail destination for our Members traveling on the south side.”

The new Lincoln Sam’s Club brings new jobs with career opportunities to Lincoln and surrounding communities, employing approximately 175 associates.
“A lot of work has gone into this project, and every single one of our associates has helped contribute to its completion,” Rowe said. “This club is for Lincoln, and I appreciate all of our associates for their commitment to seeing this new south location come to fruition.”
Club Manager Jon Rowe started his career with Sam’s Club in Grand Island in 1998, as an evening closer and overnight merchandiser. As an avid Husker fan and former UNL student, Rowe brings experience and enthusiasm to his new position as Club manager in Lincoln.

Fuel Station and Hearing Center among Added Amenities
As the capitol city continues to expand south, Hwy. 2 ushers traffic in the south side of town. Those traveling to, through and out of Lincoln will have the convenience of a new Sam’s Club fuel station, which is located adjacent to the club. The station will have 12 pumps, including diesel, an additional benefit for the area’s large agricultural community.
The new club will also debut a Sam’s Club Hearing Aid Center, offering premium technology in hearing aid and personal listening devices alongside the care of a certified audiologist, along with an Optical Center with numerous eye care services.
Other health and wellness benefits include the Sam’s Club pharmacy, open to members and the public, featuring $4 and $10 generic prescriptions and extraordinary savings on branded prescriptions. Sam’s Club also offers an optical department, free monthly health screenings and Healthy Living Made Simple magazine to help members take charge of their health through preventative measures.
Sam’s Club to Support Lincoln, Local Charities
Sam’s Club has a longstanding commitment to give back to the communities it serves, and in that giving spirit, Associates at the south Lincoln club selected several local organizations to receive a combined total of $25,000 in grants from the Sam’s Club Giving Program, including Teammates Mentoring Program, Southwest Rural Fire Department, Lincoln Police Union Charities Santa Cop, Lincoln Children’s Zoo, CEDARS Home for Children, The Arc of Lincoln, Palmyra Schools, WIC Home Program, and Capital Humane Society of Lincoln.
The new Sam’s Club will also help fight hunger in the area by continuing to make regular product donations to the local Food Bank. As part of a nationwide collaboration between Sam’s Club and Feeding America, Sam’s Club donated more than 39 million meals in 2011 to Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief charity.
“On behalf of the City of Lincoln, I want to thank Sam’s Club for its investment in this new store which will add 175 jobs and help increase sales tax revenue in our community,” Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler said. “At the same time, we commend Sam’s Club for demonstrating its commitment to our city by presenting $25,000 in grants to some of Lincoln’s outstanding service organizations.”
In 2011, Sam’s Club locations and other Walmart stores collectively gave more than $5.5 million in cash and in-kind donations to local organizations in Nebraska. Through additional funds donated by members, customers and associates, contributions in Nebraska totaled more than $6.1 million.
