St. Joseph Institute announces the opening of a detox unit on their campus located between Altoona and State College. Licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the new program will provide detoxification from drugs and alcohol. Patients will stay in comfortable lodges with 24/7 medical care and programming to help them begin the journey to recovery.

“Our detox unit expands the Institute´s ability to serve people with drug and alcohol addiction,” stated Jenny Sheetz, founder and clinical director. “We will offer a unique program that uses a combination of medical and holistic treatments to begin the process of healing and prepare the individual for the important work of learning to manage the disease of addiction.” It is anticipated that many patients will continue their recovery by participating in the Institute´s 30-day rehabilitation program. However, this is not a requirement for admission. The detox unit will be able to accept most health insurance plans, but will not be registered with Medicare or Access.
