Baylor hospitals in the Dallas and Fort Worth areas of Texas will no longer provide sugary drinks or sugar-sweetened sodas in facility vending machines or cafeterias. In response to this announcement, Massage School San Diego, proponent of healthy living and massage therapy schools in San Diego CA, has released its list of the top 10 worst effects of soda on your body, with aims of promoting healthy eating and drinking habits.

In an effort to provide healthier drinking options to its patients and their families, Baylor hospitals will no longer carry sugar-laden drinks or sodas in its Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, facilities. Vending machines and cafeterias will only serve water, diet drinks and fruit juices. Hospital food has seen changes, too. Now, only low-calorie or highly nutritious snacks can be found in facility vending areas. According to a Baylor dietician, the hospital system made these dietary changes in order to set a good example for its patients and set them up for success as they strive for better health.

In conjunction with Baylor´s recent ban of sugary drinks, Massage School San Diego has released a list of soda´s top 10 unhealthy side effects, hoping to encourage more healthy drinking choices. Some of the side effects listed are dehydration, weight gain, lack of nutritional value, kidney damage, and bone weakening leading to osteoporosis.

Baylor Health Care System offers 27 affiliated hospitals and health care facilities across North Texas. The organization got its start in 1903, when the Texas Baptist Memorial Sanitarium (later Baylor University Medical Center) was founded.
