Mountainside Drug Rehab Cites Research Regarding Increase Of Stroke Risk For Heavy Alcohol Users

September 16, 2012

Intracerebral hemorrhage risk increased by heavy alcohol consumption

(PRWEB) September 15, 2012

Recently published research shows that excessive alcohol consumption increases risk of intracerebral hemorrhage.

Researchers in France studied previous alcohol consumption patterns of patients who had previously been treated for intracerebral hemorrhages. They discovered that nearly twenty-five percent of those who had suffered this type of hemorrhage were heavy alcohol users, average age of 60. Those who weren´t heavy drinkers were an average age of 74 when they had their strokes.

“We´ve known for years that excessive alcohol consumption causes a wide variety of health problems for many individuals,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center. “This is yet another study that highlights the need for moderation in alcohol consumption. Not only does excessive alcohol use contribute to many social and family problems in one´s life, but it also can, quite literally, kill you physically.”

The statistics for abuse of alcohol continues to climb annually. In fact, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that excessive alcohol use is the third leading lifestyle-related cause of death within the United States; it is estimated that there are nearly 80,000 deaths annually.
