September 21, 2012

Councillors and Quebec’s Commissaire meet to exchange ideas on public
reporting of health reform on September 24

QUEBEC CITY, Sept. 21, 2012 /CNW/ – The Health Council of Canada and the Commissaire à la santé et au bien-être du Québec will convene
for a joint meeting on September 24 in Quebec City. This collaboration
is part of an ongoing relationship between the Health Council and the
Commissaire, in an effort to exchange ideas and information on how to
improve public reporting within their respective mandates.

At the session, the Commissaire à la santé et au bien-être du Québec
will discuss its role within the Quebec’s health care system, its work
in measuring health system performance, and its influence on the
overall direction of health and social services in the province.

For its part, the Health Council will highlight key reporting lines from
its body of work, including: the Aboriginal Health series; annual
Canadian Health Care Matters bulletins that focus on Commonwealth Fund
surveys in which both the Council and Quebec participate; and major
projects around innovation and innovative practices.

“We welcome this opportunity to meet with and learn firsthand from our
Quebec colleagues,” says Dr. Jack Kitts, CEO of the Health Council of
Canada. “There is a lot of good work in health care within the
province. In our reporting, we continue to highlight innovative
practices within Quebec that the rest of the country can emulate and
possibly adapt for their respective jurisdictions.”

“There are synergies between the work of the Commissaire and the Health
Council,” says Dr. Robert Salois, Commissaire à la santé et au
bien-être du Québec. “We look forward to continuing to work on areas of
mutual interest such as the Commonwealth Fund surveys.”

Health Council of Canada Councillors meet on a quarterly basis to
discuss Health Council work and ongoing business. Council meetings are
held in various locations across Canada. Representatives of the Health
Council of Canada and the Commissaire à la santé et au bien-être du
Québec are available for interview in Quebec City on September 24.
