Sleep Training Solutions, a leading baby and toddler sleep consulting company based in Winnetka, IL, will be offering an educational seminar, “How to Teach Your Baby or Toddler to Sleep,” November 10th at the Winnetka Community House to help parents in the Chicago area solve their children’s challenging sleep problems.

Winnetka, IL (PRWEB) October 19, 2012

On November 10, 2012, a seminar, “How to Teach Your Baby or Toddler to Sleep,” will be offered from 8:30-11:30am at the Winnetka Community House. Kim Schaf, M.A.T., Founder and President of Sleep Training Solutions and Certified Child Sleep Consultant, will be offering this group seminar to help parents avoid common pitfalls and eliminate the specific sleep problems they are experiencing with their children.

According to the author of “Sleep Thieves”, Stanley Coren states that parents lose between 400-750 hours of sleep during their child´s first year of life, which is the equivalent of losing 50-94 full 8-hour nights of sleep. New parents may get 7 hours of fragmented sleep during the night, but 7 hours of fragmented sleep is equivalent to 5.5 hours of restorative, continuous sleep. For parents who are hoping that their child’s sleep problem will simply be resolved with time, a study was published in Pediatrics (January 2012) by researchers at Cincinnati Children´s Hospital Medical Center who found that children do not necessarily outgrow sleep issues. Previous studies in Behavioral Pediatrics and Pediatric Psychology found that 84% of children with sleep issues will continue to have them up to 3-5 years. With these statistics on child sleep problems, it is encouraging that parents are educating themselves on how to promote healthy sleep habits for their children.

The comprehensive and interactive seminar on November 10th will help parents solve their child´s specific sleep problems, including issues with bedtime, nightwakings, naptime and early rising. Parents will learn about the special sleep needs of infants and toddlers, the negative effects of carrying a sleep debt, how to develop a fun and practical bedtime routine, and common pitfalls that hinder healthy sleep. Parents will take home a personalized Sleep Plan based on their own unique situation that can be implemented immediately to solve their child´s sleep issues. The value in this seminar is in the follow-up support–each couple (or participant) will receive 10 days of unlimited email support from Schaf to answer any questions that come up after the seminar to ensure successful sleep training. This seminar is geared toward parents with children ages 3 month-3 years. The cost for the seminar is $199 and registration is required.

“If bedtime is struggle, a child is waking several times each night, waking at the crack of dawn or not taking long and restful naps, these seminars will empower parents so they can solve the sleep problem(s) quickly,” said Schaf. “Parents and their children will finally be able to get a good night’s sleep after implementing the information I give them, whether they have been struggling with sleep issues for months or years.”

This seminar is geared to parents with children ages 3 months-3 years and preregistration is required. A questionnaire will be emailed to each couple (or participant) and must be completed and returned by Thursday, November 8th.

For questions or to register for this seminar, contact Kim Schaf at (847) 386-6285 or email Kim(at)SleepTrainingSolutions.com.
