Oncology Systems Limited UK Renews Research and Collaboration Agreement with University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) – Radiotherapy Department

October 29, 2012

SHREWSBURY, England, October 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ –

Continued Collaboration with Leading Clinical and Research University Hospital
Provides Leading-Edge Research in Clinical Radiation Oncology Workflow

Oncology Systems Limited UK (OSL), innovators in radiation therapy solutions,
announced today the signing of a multi-year research and collaboration agreement with The
UHB Radiotherapy Department and the Medical Physics Department. UHB researchers play a
vital role in advancing the treatment the Trust is able to deliver to its patients. In
doing so they support the Trust’s vision to deliver the best in care, help maintain its
reputation for excellence and, most importantly, make a real difference to people’s lives.

OSL and the UHB will collaborate on leading-edge research in radiation oncology to
advance pre-treatment technology and quality assurance tools and provide health care
professionals with the most advanced tools for optimising workflow with multi-modality
data for delivering advanced radiotherapy patient care.

The Department of Radiotherapy Physics at the UHB is the first to install OnQ rts(R)
in the UK under the collaborative agreement along with OSL’s ImSimQA(TM) quality assurance
software for radiotherapy imaging.

“We are pleased to be working with OSL to advance clinical practice,” said Prof.
Stuart Green, Director of Medical Physics at the UHB. “We are in the fortunate position as
a leading centre to have access to a number of systems that enable us to deal with the
large volume of multi-modality image and planning data now used to deliver advanced
radiation for our patients, working with OSL’s OnQ rts and ImSimQA gives us the
flexibility to help in the decision making process on how this software can be tuned to
meet our unique needs and will help ensure the quality of treatments we deliver. Along
with our clinical and technical capability, our understanding of the clinical requirements
can be translated to help OSL further design and optimise the software solutions they are
crafting. Benefits for our patients and our staff are always encouraged within our
institution as are solutions that can bring these to our department and radiation therapy
centres around-the-world.”

“Early results are very promising” stated Marie Tiffany, Clinical Scientist in
Radiotherapy Physics at a recent Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM)
conference held in Oxford, UK. We have seen a clear impact with a reduction in the time
required to contour our patients and prepare adaptive re-plans with the use of OnQ rts,
and we are now pushing for additional licenses to increase the benefits we are gaining
with this software as well as looking at the expanded functionality.

“We are very pleased to be collaborating with the team at UHB, having motivated
clinical partners like the UHB/QEB team means our software will really do what our
customers want. This is the single most important aspect of product development, and we
are looking forward to a long and strong continuing partnership” said Julie Mead, OSL
clinical director.

OnQ rts software is 510k pending.
