Northeastern PA Chambers to Provide Innovative Benefits Offering

October 30, 2012

HAZLETON, SCRANTON and WILKES-BARRE, Pa., Oct. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Chambers of Commerce announce a new program with Liazon Corp. to bring an innovative program for controlling healthcare and other employee benefits costs to business members across Northeastern PA. ChamberChoice, the area’s Chamber of Commerce insurance program, is now offering Liazon’s Bright Choices store to its membership. Bright Choices has successfully delivered cost savings and benefits enhancements to over 2,000 small to mid-sized businesses around the country. Now Northeastern Pennsylvania businesses can start saving 10% to 30% over their traditional employee benefits investments by accessing their benefits through Bright Choices.

Donna Palermo, President of the Greater Hazleton Chamber and representative of the 17 chambers serving the region, said “Affordability has been a real challenge for local businesses with the rapid rise in health insurance costs. Now our ChamberChoice program offers an improved benefit solution that actually controls cost inflation and gives employees what they need to protect themselves.”

Liazon brings two innovative approaches together in Bright Choices to reduce employer cost while offering employees greater choice and more customized insurance coverage. First employers set a “defined contribution” for each employee to use toward purchasing a personally customized set of benefits. Next the employees use their allocated funds to shop in an online benefits store stocked with top regional and national insurance brands like Blue Cross, MetLife, and Allstate.

Bright Choices’ smart technology – working with information the employee supplies about their medical situation, finances, risk tolerance and preferences – guides the selection process. The result is a customized benefits recommendation specifically configured for the employee and their family.

In other regions, Chambers of Commerce offering Bright Choices to their member businesses report millions of dollars in savings. Palermo said, “This is great for area businesses and the regional economy as a whole. Money saved by avoiding skyrocketing insurance premiums is now available for employers to put back into their businesses. That is good for everyone in the area.”

With Bright Choices, even small businesses can provide their staff with access to benefits that are typically only available at Fortune 500 companies. Coverage options include health and life insurance, health savings accounts, dental, vision, disability, critical illness, wellness and telemedicine.
