BOSTON, Nov. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Founders Brian McCourt and Ron Norton announce the launch of SharingCounts, a comprehensive health-focused online fundraising and support platform for individuals, families, caregivers and non-profit organizations.
SharingCounts addresses the wide-ranging needs that individuals and their family and friends have when confronted with a health challenge; keeping family and friends up to date with their condition, and letting people know about their needs, both emotional and financial while at the same time providing a way to empower family and friends to get involved and help.
Along with keeping people updated during a health challenge, SharingCounts recognized that financial issues can have a big impact on people, so we created a way to make it easy for people to quickly raise money to help any individual or cause, what we call the MicroEvent Fundraiser Concept.
MicroEvent Fundraisers are simple, they take everyday activities and make them fundraisers, things such as hobbies, social gatherings, and athletic events. You simply go onto the SharingCounts.com web site, find a Cause and then create a MicroEvent Fundraiser, letting people know what you are going to do, such as run a 5k race this weekend, get together a bunch of friends for a round of golf or having a dinner party or back yard barbeque, anything can be a MicroEvent Fundraiser. You can then share that event across your social networks such as Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr and your friends can easily donate to that cause on your behalf. The donations are collected online and when the event is complete those donations are directed to your chosen cause, it’s simple and quick and makes it possible for anyone to raise money for a cause.
SharingCounts.com went online at the end of October and within days of launching several causes had been profiled and several successful MicroEvent Fundraisers had been undertaken raising several thousand dollars for individuals suffering from Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis and ALS.
SharingCounts is now undergoing a national expansion effort in the U.S. market and looks to help the 10,000 people per day whom are diagnosed with critical illnesses and the countless others who are victims of accidents and injuries. “Simplifying the process and uniting friends and family during a health challenges is our main goal” say Brian and Ron and our own personal experiences with health challenges has made this a priority for us and our team at SharingCounts.
