Visionworks Grand Opening event introduces eye care services to Wilmington market
WILMINGTON, Del., Dec. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Visionworks, the largest wholly owned U.S.-based optical retailer, has announced that its Brandywine Town Center store is now open. Located at 3030 Brandywine Parkway in Wilmington, it is one of the 25 stores expected to open in the Greater Philadelphia and tri-state area through 2013, a region which includes Delaware.
A grand opening event for the general public is planned for Saturday, Dec. 15 from noon until 2 p.m. At the event, participants will have an opportunity to win a $500 “family of eye wear” package that will provide gift cards to cover the cost of eye wear for a family of five. Other prizes include non-prescription sunglasses and a $100 gift card.
“The Wilmington area is an ideal market to expand our business, and we are looking forward to serving this region,” said Visionworks President Jim Eisen. “We are excited to bring our industry-leading service, selection and value to Wilmington as we become a trusted neighborhood eye wear provider for the area.”
According to Eisen, now is a good time to make an appointment with your family eye care practitioner to have your vision and eye health checked, especially if you have a vision benefit but haven’t used it this year. An annual eye exam does more than simply check an individual’s vision acuity. It can also detect changes in one’s overall health and can provide early detection and intervention for serious health conditions and diseases in their early stages, including diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, nerve disorders, stroke and tumors, to name a few. Since vision changes occur throughout life, it is important to have your latest prescription for eyeglasses with you when you visit Visionworks.
In addition to offering consumers a new, high-quality choice in vision care, Visionworks’ retail locations will bring new jobs to the marketplace, with positions ranging from optician to lab technician. Both hourly and full-time opportunities with competitive benefits packages are available. Visionworks stores throughout the region will employ up to 600 associates.
“Visionworks is a great place to start and build a career in retail,” said Regional Vice President John DiIanni. “We want to see qualified, motivated individuals grow with us. In fact, several of our management team members began their careers with Visionworks at the store level.”
