Coast2Coast Rx Card Saves Dallas County Residents More Than $5.2 Million on Prescription Costs in 2012
Discount card continues to generate revenue for county health programs while improving access to health services.
Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. (PRWEB) January 14, 2013
The providers of the Coast2Coast Rx card today announced that residents of Dallas County saved more than $5.2 million on prescription costs in 2012 using the free discount card. The annual savings contribute to a total of more than $16,209,795 saved since the program was launched by the Dallas County Commissioners Court in September 2009.
While the card can be an excellent resource to save money year-round, consumers are encouraged to utilize the card for savings during the cold and flu season. Coast2Coast Rx recently announced that it can now be used to save up to 30 percent on seasonal flu shots. Consumers can use their card in the same way they normally would for their prescriptions, and utilize the pharmacy locator tool on the Coast2Coast Rx website to contact their nearest pharmacy for availability.
A key feature to the Coast2Coast Rx program is the income it generates for partnering organizations. For each prescription filled, Dallas County receives $1.25 for public programs. Further benefits of the program include its ease-of-use and accessibility to all consumers: the Coast2Coast Rx card is free, there is no paperwork to fill out, and there are no restrictions on age, income status, or existing health conditions. Those with no insurance coverage, the underinsured and even those with high deductibles such as certain prescriptions or flu vaccines not covered by their health plan may save significantly by using the free program. In some cases even Medicare Part D patients experiencing the “donut hole” can use the card to help offset their out-of-pocket expenses.
With the Coast2Coast Rx card, consumers have access to discounted rates on more than 60,000 name brand and generic prescriptions with savings of up 75 percent on prescribed medications. For 2012, consumers saved an average of 60 percent nationwide. Furthermore, residents have access to additional health services through partner programs that allow card users to select from a network of providers offering vision, dental, hearing, lab and imaging services, as well as diabetes supplies and even pet prescriptions and veterinary care.
“We value our successful partnership with Dallas County–the program has saved constituents more than $16 million since it started–and want to ensure that the card is available to everyone,” said Chief Marketing Officer Marty Dettelbach of Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc., the company that provides the discount prescription card. “Too often consumers go without the prescriptions they need as they simply cannot afford them–the Coast2Coast Rx card provides significant discounts on prescriptions that residents need to manage their healthcare.”
The Coast2Coast Rx card can be used in more than 59,000 participating pharmacies nationwide, including major chains and many independent establishments.
