Top Echelon Contracting Announces Top Industries for Contract Staffing

February 14, 2013

Healthcare leads all sectors for the most contract placements through the contract staffing back-office.

CANTON, Ohio (PRWEB) February 14, 2013

Contract staffing remained strong in 2012 as companies sought cost containment and workforce flexibility in the face of an unstable economy, indecision in Washington, and a pivotal Presidential election. The use of contractors was especially strong in the following areas nationwide, based on the 2012 contract placement statistics of contract staffing back-office provider Top Echelon® Contracting (TEC):

  •     Healthcare – 29%
  •     Business Professionals and Support Staff – 25%
  •     Engineering and Manufacturing – 16%
  •     Information Technology – 11%
  •     Finance and Accounting – 10%
  •     HR/Legal/Recruiting – 7%
  •     Sales/Marketing – 2%

Healthcare has been a major industry for contract staffing for several years, and TEC President Debbie Fledderjohann predicts that demand for contractors in that sector will continue to increase.

“As the population ages, healthcare providers need to find ways to handle the demand,” Fledderjohann said. “We are finding more and more that they are choosing to meet that demand through contract staffing because contractors provide a nimble workforce that can quickly be increased or reduced to respond to staffing needs. As Obamacare and other factors further strain the healthcare system, we can only expect the reliance on contractors to grow.”

Last year, TEC put extra focus on helping recruiters make more healthcare placements. Throughout 2012, TEC ran a number of Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Pharmacists, Pharmacy Techs, and Registered Nurses (RNs) through its back-office. Fledderjohann said this trend is continuing through 2013

TEC also expanded its capabilities in the Engineering and Manufacturing sector, which was the third largest area for the back-office´s placements. In 2012, TEC expanded its Workers´ Compensation coverage to allow more Engineering/Manufacturing placements in a wider range of environments.

TEC saw the largest jump in the placement of Business Professionals and Support Staff area, which increased 9% over 2011. Business Professionals and Support Staff were placed in variety of industries and business sectors throughout the United States.
