Olympian Adam Goucher and Two-Time National Champion Lauren Fleshman Become Advisors for The ElliptiGO Project

February 15, 2013

Fleshman and Goucher bring their running expertise and experience with the ElliptiGO to the group in new advisory roles

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 15, 2013

The ElliptiGO Project, a group of elite runners focused on using innovative training tools and techniques to improve performance, today announced that two-time National Champion and five-time NCAA Champion, Lauren Fleshman, and eight-time National Champion and Olympian, Adam Goucher, will be Project Advisors in 2013. The pair bring years of experience with integrating the ElliptiGO into running training programs and aim to help the Project members get the most out of their training on the ElliptiGO.

Goucher is a four-time NCAA national champion who represented the U.S. in the 5,000 meters at the 2000 Olympics. During his prolific career he qualified for five Olympic Trials before chronic injuries forced him to bring his competitive running days to a close last year. “Now that my own professional running career has ended, it´s exciting to take on this new role within the Project and be able to contribute to the success of the other athletes in a meaningful way,” remarked Goucher. “I´ve been using the ElliptiGO for more than two years now and I´ve experimented with it and learned a great deal about how to use it in my training. I hope to pass on this knowledge to the other athletes of the Project so they can learn to incorporate the ElliptiGO into their own training with a real purpose and plan.”

Fleshman is a 15-time All-American, five-time NCAA Champion, and two-time National Champion who first used the ElliptiGO to recover from an injury in 2010. That experience led her to incorporate the ElliptiGO into her regular training schedule as she continues to train with an eye on the 2016 Olympics. “When I first started using the ElliptiGO it was still so new,” recalled Fleshman. “I was among some of the first runners to figure out how to incorporate the ElliptiGO into both my rehab and regular training programs. Now there are literally dozens of elite runners and other professional athletes who are using the ElliptiGO for cross-training. Adam and I hope to help the athletes of the Project with new ideas for training and let them benefit from our experience.”

Some of the ElliptiGO Project Members Fleshman and Goucher will be working with include:

  •     Meb Keflezighi, 2-Time Olympic Marathoner and Silver Medalist
  •     Julie Culley, 2012 US Olympic 5,000-meter runner
  •     Magdalena Lewy Boulet, 2008 US Olympic Marathoner
  •     Chelsea Reilly, 2012 US Road 10K Champion
  •     Neely Spence, 8-time NCAA Div. II National Champion
  •     Shannon Rowbury, 2-Time Olympic 1,500-meter runner

To join the Project, elite athletes are required to have an inspiring running-related goal that they want to accomplish in the next two years and want to authentically integrate new training tools and techniques in order to help them achieve their goal. In addition, athletes must be willing to share their training and results with other members of the Project. Each athlete will use tools like the ElliptiGO in a slightly different way, so a major benefit to the team members is being able to communicate with each other and learn new ways to incorporate these devices into their own workout regimens.

The Project is currently recruiting elite athletes with ambitious goals who are interested in exploring innovative new ways of getting faster and staying healthy. For more information about The ElliptiGO Project, visit the website at http://www.theelliptigoproject.com.
