Redwood City, CA (PRWEB) February 27, 2013

The patented SteriShoe® sanitizer, the first product to safely and effectively sanitize the inside of shoes through the use of germicidal ultraviolet light, is receiving widespread recognition from the medical community. The publication of a clinical study in a medical journal, a medical association´s endorsement, and appearances on local and national television all give a nod to the ability of the SteriShoe® sanitizer to kill up to 99.9 percent of the germs that cause foot infections and shoe odor.

“The recognition for the SteriShoe® sanitizer highlights the need to sanitize shoes, proves that the product effectively addresses this need, and provides further credibility for doctors to incorporate the SteriShoe® sanitizer as part of their treatment protocol,” says Adam Ullman President and CEO of Shoe Care Innovations, the company that makes the SteriShoe®.

The product has received a Seal of Acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA). According to APMA, the seal recognizes that the product has been found beneficial to foot health and of significant value when used in a consistently applied program of daily foot care and regular professional treatment.

Dr. Mahmoud Ghannoum of University Hospital at Case Western Reserve University conducted a clinical study to determine the ability of the SteriShoe® ultraviolet shoe sanitizer to decontaminate a shoe. The results showed that the SteriShoe® sanitizer destroyed, on average, over 80 percent of microorganisms in shoes and he indicated those “findings have implications regarding breaking the foot infection cycle.”

Dr. Ghannoum´s study was published in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association in July 2012.

The SteriShoe® sanitizer has also received attention from the consumer media. It was featured on the nationally syndicated television program, “The Doctors” in January 2013 and in late 2012 on WPLG in Miami, Florida.
