Alzheimer’s Report Highlights Need For Action

March 6, 2013

LONDON, March 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ –

The recent report by the Alzheimer’s Society, which revealed that fewer than half of
the people residing in care homes enjoy a good quality of life, should act as a wake-up
call for those organisations involved with the care sector. The team at leading care
management system provider QCS [http://www.ukqcs.co.uk ] is aware that negative
perceptions may be adversely affecting the industry and has echoed the calls for standards
of care to improve across the board.

With compliance more important than ever, the revelations from the charity report only
serve to underline the many issues affecting those working in this highly sensitive area -
and the desperate need for change.

The findings from the study also showed that 80 per cent of those in care homes have
severe memory problems or dementia. In response, the charity has called on ministers and
the sector as a whole to address this growing issue and be more open to the public on what
support dementia sufferers are given.

As this situation has received widespread coverage, the onus is on care providers to
not only comply with all Care Quality Commission (CQC) guidelines, but also to take some
responsibility in working to raise the level of expectation in the country regarding the
standards of care homes in general, while offering its users a better quality of life.

The team at Quality Compliance Systems has a wealth of experience in this field and
can point owners and managers of care homes in the right direction whether they need
assistance on care planning, CQC registration or a full management system, which can help
to ensure that everything is running as efficiently as possible.

It remains to be seen whether the government will act on this report and how they aim
to work more closely with care providers to improve the standards of care. However,
everyone seems to agree that the situation as it stands is unacceptable, with some form of
action required to improve the image of the sector and start to rebuild the public’s trust
again.

http://www.ukqcs.co.uk is a provider of high quality bespoke CQC management
services for adult health and social care providers, GPs and dentists. The company offers
a range of packages designed to suit the needs of the organisation.
