Trupanion Announces Major Pet Insurance Policy Enhancements

March 8, 2013

Expanded care and coverage clearly make Trupanion the most comprehensive provider of pet insurance in North America.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) March 08, 2013

Trupanion, a leading provider of pet insurance, today announced several policy enhancements that help maintain their distinction as the pet insurance provider with the most comprehensive accident and illness coverage in North America. These enhancements were made based on data and direct feedback from pet owners and the veterinary community.

“We are driven by our love for pets, and are always striving to make it as simple as possible for pet owners to take care of them,” said Darryl Rawlings, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Trupanion. “This updated policy does just that — it is the simplest and most transparent pet insurance policy in the industry, making it incredibly easy for pet owners to agree to the best and most appropriate care for their pet every time.”

Starting today, current and future Trupanion policyholders, subject to regulatory approval, will see the following improvements in coverage:

Hip Dysplasia will be covered for all pets as part of the core policy coverage. Previously, hip dysplasia coverage was available as an optional rider; now, it will be included under core coverage and available to all enrolled pets.

Trupanion´s only additional health care rider – the “Additional Care Package” – has been enhanced to include the following 17 modalities: acupuncture, behavioral modification, bone marrow transplants, chiropractic, colloidal silver treatments, gold seed therapy, herbal therapy, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, kidney transplants, naturopathy, physical/rehabilitative therapy, platelet rich plasma injections, polyethylene glycol medication, shock-wave therapy, and stem cell therapy.

Fewer overall coverage exclusions. Trupanion´s updated policy now includes a very limited list of exclusions that are clearly listed in the policy.

A simpler policy that is easier to understand. Now, when a policyholder chooses to enroll with the “Additional Care Package,” all veterinary-recommended treatments will be covered with no financial limits, making it simple for both pet owners and veterinarians to understand.

“Trupanion is differentiating itself from all other pet insurance companies as well as leapfrogging human healthcare by providing superior value to pet owners while not dictating how veterinarians provide care,” said Dr. Kerri Marshall, Chief Veterinary Officer at Trupanion. “The end result is pets receive better care, pet owners receive exceptional value, and veterinarians are finally free to provide all the care they are trained to provide our pets.”

Trupanion policy enhancements are now available in most states and all Canadian provinces (some states pending regulatory approval). To learn more, visit Trupanion.com/best-pet-insurance.
