QAPI Accredited Skilled Nursing Facilities and 2013 Embracing Quality Award Winners Announced
Providigm, LLC, announces the first international group of QAPI accredited nursing homes and the 2013 Embracing Quality Award winners excelling in the areas of: customer satisfaction, prevention of hospital readmission and deficiency-free surveys.
Denver, CO (PRWEB) May 07, 2013
Today, Providigm, LLC, announced the first international group of facilities that met the 2013 Providigm Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) accreditation criteria. These criteria are based on standards for excellence in continuously improving quality of care and life for nursing home residents. Providigm also announced the 2013 Embracing Quality Award winners from among these distinguished facilities.
Simultaneously, Providigm´s Research Team, led by Dr. Andrew Kramer, released a research brief entitled QAPI Accreditation: Impact on Survey Performance. The research contained in the brief validated that facilities meeting the QAPI Accreditation Standards experienced an average reduction of nearly six survey deficiencies in their annual federal audit. Of the facilities in the study, those that received Civil Money Penalties demonstrated an average penalty reduction of over $30,000 after meeting the QAPI Accreditation Standards.
From the 638 accredited facilities in the United States and Canada, 285 outstanding performers earned 2013 Embracing Quality Awards. These awards were given in three categories: Customer Satisfaction, Prevention of Hospital Readmission, and facilities that achieved Deficiency Free Surveys in 2012.
“Providigm´s QAPI Accreditation program recognizes nursing centers that are invested in a process that leads to excellence in healthcare. I´d especially like to acknowledge the Embracing Quality Award winners. They not only met accreditation standards, but demonstrated excellence in three areas that are critical to the care of elders,” said Dr. Andrew Kramer, CEO at Providigm and an international expert on measuring quality of elder care.
Providigm´s accreditation and award criteria reflect the focus of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to increase resident centered care in skilled nursing facilities and to reduce preventable hospital readmissions. Accredited facilities and award winners represent both for-profit and non-profit organizations ranging from single facilities to large national chains.
