RADPrimer 3.0 Introduces Comprehensive Radiology Training Curriculum
Amirsys´ RADPrimer 3.0, a Comprehensive Radiology Learning Environment for All Resident Levels, Arrives This July
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) May 23, 2013
Amirsys, Inc. will release RADPrimer 3.0, a comprehensive radiology learning environment for all resident levels this July. The new RADPrimer, with prebuilt lessons and assessments, transforms the learning experience from case-based learning to a fuller, more comprehensive radiology curriculum.
“Until RADPrimer 3.0, RADPrimer heavily emphasized a case-challenge experience that is second to none,” comments Dr. B.J. Manaster, Professor of Radiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine and RADPrimer lead author. “While third-year residents thrive on case-challenges, program directors asked for more. They need residents of all levels to gain a strong understanding of foundational radiology concepts. The new RADPrimer broadens the educational focus to include a more comprehensive, consistent curriculum for multiple resident levels.”
While third year residents can still focus on both case-based learning and multiple choice quizzes, the new RADPrimer will launch with two curricula: Basic and Intermediate. The Basic curriculum includes all the radiology knowledge residents should master by the end of the first year. By the end of their third year, residents should master the expert-guided material included in the Intermediate curriculum.
The Basic and Intermediate curricula include hundreds of prebuilt lessons, with overviews that summarize topic highlights and learning objectives. Each lesson is crafted by experienced educators and thought leaders. The lessons also include reading assignments written by leading radiology experts, practice questions to help residents learn as they go, and pre- and post-lesson quizzes to show learning progress and comprehension. An Advanced curriculum, for fellows and sub-specialty residents, is planned for a later release.
To help program administrators analyze resident performance results, RADPrimer 3.0´s tracking tools give insight into individual and program-wide performance on over 5,000 assessment questions. Administrators can use this information to identify issues early and plan for improvement opportunities. Assessment areas include diagnosis, differential diagnosis, anatomy, procedure, physics, and safety. To help program administrators document progress, each RADPrimer lesson is mapped to ACGME Medical Knowledge and Patient Care core competencies. Reports can also be exported to an anatomy/modality grid.
