May 29, 2013

America’s Health Insurance shares their strategies for the oncoming health care reform in 2014. They plan to participate both on the exchange and off the exchange.

Fort Wayne, IN (PRWEB) May 29, 2013

Health and Humans Services directives and the response of the major carriers are slowly painting in the picture of the future of purchasing health insurance in America. The latest releases have given America´s Health Insurance enough solid information to release the following directives.

  • Effective immediately America´s Health Insurance will offer health insurance plans that bypass Obamacare until 2015. All who are currently paying for their own insurance are strongly recommended to avail themselves of this opportunity. In most states, it will result in a savings of thousands of dollars of premiums.
  • America´s Health Insurance will offer several plans that are not compliant with the health care exchanges. These plans cost less than 50% of what Obamacare metallic plans will cost according to the rate filings of the various carriers that intend to market these plans. Yet, they will offer excellent coverage, including benefits without the deductible that all Obamacare plans will have. America´s health Insurance website will show the cost of these plans including the amount of the penalty for staying outside regular Obamacare. This will be the best option for millions of Americans.
  • America´s Health Insurance will offer metallic plans off the exchange so people that want to will be able to comply with the mandates of Obamacare and still have expanded access to hospitals and doctors instead of the highly restricted exchange networks. In the subsidy segment above 300% of poverty, the subsidy is so low that most people will not feel the 2/3 reduction in network size of being on the exchange will be worth the small savings of the subsidy.

America´s health Insurance will not be participating in the subsidy exchanges until some of the pressing problems listed below are solved.

America´s Health Insurance wants to participate in the subsidy exchanges. However, most people who will be eligible for even the highest level subsidy, will still have to pay $70 to $140 per month according to Kaiser Foundation Exchange Premium calculator. For those who are not at the lowest level of income, the amount of premium they will be required to pay will escalate substantially. The vast majority of these people do not currently pay premiums. Poll after poll shows this segment of the population believes Obamacare will be free to them. There is a fair degree of probability that even this modest cost to the low income people will keep them from participating in the exchange. This is a very large problem for paying their portion of the premiums on the exchange. This is compounded by the fact many who can pay the initial premium will struggle with the ongoing premium payments, deductibles, and other out of pocket costs due to their low income´s inability to absorb the financial shocks of everyday life. This will result in many lapsed policies and a large administrative expense in trying to keep people on their policies. Until these issues are resolved, it makes little sense for America´s Health Insurance to actively participate in the exchanges, although we will be certified on the exchanges and eligible to write business when it is appropriate.
