The Angiogenesis Foundation Launches Science of Colorectal Cancer Patient Resource at ASCO Annual Meeting 2013
Exhibiting at American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2013, the Angiogenesis Foundation welcomes visitors to explore its new website–a one-stop resource on colorectal cancer.
CHICAGO, May 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The Angiogenesis Foundation will launch its global advocacy multimedia campaign for colorectal cancer (CRC) with a new website, Science of CRC (www.scienceofcrc.org), at its exhibit at ASCO on June 1, 2013. The campaign aims to empower CRC patients and their caregivers to better understand their condition and modern treatment options, and to take a proactive role in managing their condition. Colorectal cancer is currently the third most common cancer among men and the second most common among women worldwide.
The Science of CRC is the first-of-its-kind resource that offers patients a comprehensive view of colorectal cancer diagnosis and treatment with an authoritative explanation of antiangiogenic therapy, which has become a standard of care for metastatic CRC. It also presents easy-to-understand information on the biology of colorectal cancer, the role of angiogenesis (growth of new blood vessels) in the development of the disease, and the importance of interfering with the blood supply feeding cancer cells in the metastatic form of colorectal cancer.
“The Science of CRC campaign is important to the mission of the Angiogenesis Foundation– our goal is to inform, educate, and empower cancer patients to work with their doctors and take an active role in advocating for the care that will give them the best outcomes and best quality of life,” stated Dr. William Li, President and Medical Director of the Angiogenesis Foundation.
Features of the Science of CRC include:
- Patient Brochure – illustrated brochure that guides patients through screening, diagnosis, staging, and treatment for CRC.
- Visuals – illustrations explain how colorectal cancer develops, how the disease is staged, and the treatments available.
- Resources – links to useful organizations and databases, including cancer clinical trials.
On June 1st, the Angiogenesis Foundation will launch the Science of CRC exhibit at ASCO’s Annual Meeting 2013: Building Bridges to Conquer Cancer.
