The Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE) Announces Current Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation Achievements
St. Peter’s Hospital is the First Lab in NY to Achieve ACE Accreditation.
WASHINGTON, DC (PRWEB) July 30, 2013
The Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE) announced this week that St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, NY and Franciscan St. Francis, Indianapolis, IN are the latest facilities recognized with ACE accreditation. Being the first hospital in New York to accomplish ACE Cath/PCI accreditation distinguishes St. Peter’s Hospital amongst its peers. Franciscan St. Francis highlights its quality program of excellence by achieving Carotid Artery Stenting accreditation.
Mitigating risk and process variability and supporting continuous quality improvement (CQI) defines the on-going partnership with ACE. “ACE recently published new Cath/PCI standards that align with the updated expert consensus document and these standards will be implemented August 1, 2013, said Mary Heisler, RN, BA, ACE Executive Director. “They are the benchmark by which quality programs for the cardiac cath lab will now be evaluated.”
ACE’s method of engaging cardiologists in the quality outcomes process helps to establish comprehensive guidelines for interventional cardiology best practices. By facilitating the implementation of appropriate use criteria (AUC), providing cardiology experts to partner with physicians and staff and comparing clinical decision-making to nationally accepted best practices, ACE can help facilities to implement the latest science. “Like so many cardiac cath labs have already, now is the time to sign up with ACE. ACE keeps your cath lab ahead of the curve and continuing on your quality journey,” said Ms. Heisler.
About Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence
ACE, an independent organization sponsored by the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and the American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF), offers independent evaluation and monitoring of facilities that provide cardiovascular care. By reviewing facility and operator performance and comparing clinical decision-making to nationally accepted best practices, ACE peer review and accreditation services plays a critical role in continuous quality improvement programs.
