For years, the numerous health benefits of resveratrol have earned widespread attention, but recent data indicates that when it comes to fighting age-related cognitive decline and treating conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, there’s a supplement more powerful than even resveratrol. Pterostilbene, a featured ingredient in the soon-to-be-released memory supplement Pure Prodigy, has been shown to outperform resveratrol in clinical studies comparing the two supplement’s effectiveness at treating age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease.

The study—released in Neurobiology of Aging Volume 33, Issue 9 in September 2012 (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21982274) –found that “at equivalent and diet-achievable doses pterostilbene is a more potent modulator of cognition and cellular stress than resveratrol.”

“From the information we’ve seen, there seems to be some compelling evidence that pterostilbene could help in the treatment of age-related decline in brain performance and Alzheimer’s disease,” said Jonathan Weisman, founder of Biohack Nutrition, manufacturer of Pure Prodigy. “We’re really excited by the powerful brain-boosting benefits of pterostilbene, and we can’t wait to release Pure Prodigy so people can begin to take advantage of this remarkable supplement.”

Currently, more than 5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and it’s the sixth leading cause of death in the country. The information known to date about pterostilbene’s properties could provide some level of hope.

“Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and all forms of age-related mental issues are truly sad to see and their devastating effects are all too common. We’re hopeful that pterostilbene might one day play a significant role in helping us more effectively treat these conditions,” said Weisman.

Pterostilbene is a silbenoid found in blueberries and grapes. It has been though to also show anti-cancer and anti-hypercholesterolemia properties.
