As one of Southern Thailand’s leading providers of holiday accommodation, Krabi Riviera Co Ltd is pleased to promote an event recently organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). In line with their continued efforts to market Thailand as a world-class destination for health and wellness tourism, TAT has held the ‘Media & Online Celebrities FAM Trip 2013’.

Thailand has a well-developed and thriving health and wellness industry. Therefore, when preparing its marketing plan for next year, it seemed only natural for TAT to announce that it would focus on health and wellness tourism as one of its strategic niche markets. To help raise awareness of the diverse range of treatments available, TAT recently invited medical-travel writers and bloggers from the US and a number of countries in South-East Asia to participate in a three day event that has been dubbed the ‘Media & Online Celebrities FAM Trip 2013’.

This familiarisation trip was also part of TAT’s ‘Find Your Fabulous’ project, an international initiative that invites individuals to take some respite from their everyday, busy lives and to concentrate once again on their beauty, wellness and health. The media representatives were treated to a total of six excursions; these included holistic anti-ageing centres, wellness spas and dermatology clinics.

The event was sponsored by the contemporary and stylish Sofitel So Bangkok, which provided hotel accommodation for all the FAM trip guests. The highly acclaimed Blue Elephant Restaurant also provided sponsorship, and the restaurant’s management kicked-off the event by hosting a welcome dinner and cocktail party. Clearly, TAT involved some key players from Thailand’s hospitality and leisure industry to stage a memorable and high-class showcase for the country’s health and wellness services.

Thousands of visitors flock to Thailand every year to take advantage of the many health and wellness services available. Indeed, it is due to this increase in demand that led to spas being opened in both cities and small towns across Thailand. However, in spite of this considerable expansion in service providers, the quality of spa services has remained consistently high, with a particular focus being placed on continuous development. The spa industry’s desire to maintain quality amongst service providers has also led to the creation of The Thai Spa Association. The formation of this not-for-profit organisation has created networking opportunities between spa professionals and organisations, together with providing training opportunities via educational newsletters and seminars.

The ongoing development of Thailand’s spa services, as well as the continued guidance of The Thai Spa Association, has inevitably led to an extensive range of treatments being available, and a well earned reputation for excellent customer service. What’s more, those wishing to stay in one of Krabi Riviera luxurious villas during their vacation can choose from a broad selection of spa providers in the nearby town of Ao Nang, together with having the option of using Krabi Riviera’s own In Villa Massage programmes.

With such a wide selection of health and wellness services on offer, together with a clear commitment amongst industry professionals to maintain high standards in these services, TAT’s strategy of promoting the health and wellness sector deserves every success.
