SAN DIEGO, Sept. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — As community oncologists brace for further changes in the delivery of cancer care, RT Oncology Services Corporation announced incoming leadership of its Advisory Board, a group active in shaping the Company’s clinical direction and network strategies aimed at providing member practices with access to services, tools and resources that advance practice performance and patient care.
Dr. Bruce Gould, a nationally recognized innovator in community oncology, has been elected chairman of the RT Oncology Services Corporation Advisory Board. In this role he will chair a group of physician and administrative leaders from several of the nation’s leading community oncology practices.
“We are thrilled to have Bruce at the helm to guide the activities of our Advisory Board as we look toward coming initiatives and collaborations that will expand our capabilities and member benefits,” said Mike Martin, RainTree Oncology chief executive officer. “Our advisors’ knowledge and opinions are crucial to evaluating strategies, such as our recent collaboration with Life Technologies, to ensure we are advancing the science of cancer care and securing success for our member practices.”
“Despite serving the greatest proportion of U.S. cancer patients and being the most cost-effective mode of service, the future of community oncology practices is at stake,” said Dr. Gould. “RainTree Oncology is mobilizing an exciting array of technology, relationships and clinical minds to help community oncology practices overcome the challenges we face today. I look forward to working along with the Advisory Board to help guide the Company’s initiatives.”
Dr. Gould, medical director at Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers (NGOC), P.C., has advocated tirelessly on behalf of community-based cancer practices nationwide. Specializing in head and neck cancers, Dr. Gould has provided cancer care and treatment for all types of cancer patients in Marietta, Ga. since 1990 and was one of the founding partners of NGOC.
