New York, NY (PRWEB) October 11, 2013

New York’s Oasis Day Spa is embarking on yet another philanthropic venture, taking their healing practices beyond “skin-deep”. Continuing their relationship with the American Cancer Society, Oasis will once again be a proud sponsor and participant in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, taking place on October 20th, 2013 at Central Park in Manhattan, NY.

The walk, which raises money through donations and the sponsorship of participants, is part of the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the United States, uniting over 300 communities in the fight against the disease. Oasis will be on-site during the walk providing free massages to participants. Additionally, Oasis makes an annual cash donation to the American Cancer Society in support of the event, and encourages their customers to find ways to get involved on their own.

Oasis owners Bruce and Marti Schoenberg, who opened Oasis together in 1998, are no strangers to philanthropy. Between the spa’s three locations – two in New York City and one in Westchester County, New York – Oasis continues to be a proud sponsor of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for the seventh year. As with the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, Oasis sets up a booth at the annual race to give free massages to participants, and makes an annual donation. The company also supports the American Heart Association, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and other charities.

Marti explains that Oasis’ charitable endeavors are heavily customer directed. “Oasis is a place that people, especially women, come to escape. At the same time, we all know that there’s no way to truly escape the world we live in. Our customers understand this, especially the ones directly affected by some of the awful things we’re trying to fight,” says Marti. “It’s our responsibility as a member of the community to listen to our customers, and give to the charities that impact them directly.”

Leading up to the Making Strides walk, Oasis will be vigorously promoting the event through their marketing outlets, encouraging their customers to donate to the cause, and even participate if possible. Bruce and Marti are overwhelmed by the support their customers continue to put behind their charitable endeavors. “Our customers have an appreciation for the core values that Oasis was built upon – health and wellness. It’s an amazing thing when a business can team up with their clientele to help create positive change.”
