Care Communications, Inc., a national health information consulting and outsourcing firm, and the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Health Information Management, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences announced today the creation of a new research entity named the CAREinnoLab. The CAREinnoLab will conduct ongoing research and objective analysis in the field of health care data quality and health information management to determine innovative best practices that when adopted can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the U.S. health care system.

The CAREinnoLab research agenda includes a focus on practices to help provider organizations respond to evolving complexities, including electronic health records and coding classifications systems. Health information best practice recommendations will be developed through surveys, observational research, case studies, statistical analyses and comparative effectiveness studies.
