Mama Said”—the latest single to be released by rising rap artist Philly Chase—is a great gift idea for the women on anyone’s Christmas list. The song is available on iTunes and Amazon.com for only 99 cents and t-shirts are specially priced for Cyber Monday at 20-percent off retail price.
In a world where women are depicted poorly in many songs, Chase’s goal for “Mama Said,” was to cast women, specifically single moms, in a more positive light. "There hasn't been a powerful song dedicated to mother's since 2Pac’s ‘Dear Mama,’" says Chase.
Chase, who didn’t have a close relationship with his birth mother, found inspiration in a woman who would teach him many of the lessons he raps about in “Mama Said.”
“I wasn't close to my biological mom, but I do have a mother figure who is the best representation of a mom that anyone could ask for. So I wanted to write a song that sheds a light on women that is more positive, meaningful and supportive,” Chase says.
Chase’s affirming lyrics can be heard from the first word to the last, as demonstrated by his opening lines:
“My mama used to tell me you should never break a promise / Look a man in his eyes and always be honest, Never have regrets, always stay away from drama / Be your own man, always be a good father.”

Most recently, Chase took first place in a rap contest put on by Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes, a major influence in the music industry.
