Orthoco Introduces Dynarex TENS Electrode Skin Preps and Stresses Their Importance prior to TENS Treatment
Before using any TENS unit, Orthoco stresses the importance of prepping the skin surface with a specialized skin prep prior to applying TENS electrodes for daily TENS treatment.

Importance of Using TENS Electrode Skin Preps
Patients who need to cope with pain use TENS (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) to alleviate the pain. While it is important to use high quality TENS electrodes to ensure effective contact, skin preparation prior to using TENS electrodes is also helpful in ensuring their efficiency and to maximize the effectiveness of the TENS unit.
Anthony Engel, Orthoco's founder and CEO, likes Dynarex Electrode Skin Preps because, "…they increase conductivity, extend electrode wearing time, and help prevent movement of the electrodes." This is especially important under conditions of perspiration and humidity which can diminish an electrode's efficiency and effectiveness. Electrode skin preps are also less irritating than alcohol wipes. In fact, Engel asserts, "Alcohol wipes should not be used at all for pre-TENS preparation since they may heighten skin irritation resulting in a very unpleasant burning sensation during stimulation." Dynarex Skin Preps are less irritating and safer to use in place of alcohol wipes.
