AAPC Adds Facility Tools to AAPC Coder
New Add-on Tools Ease Facility Coding
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) March 19, 2014
AAPC (http://www.aapc.com), the leader in advancing the business of healthcare, is introducing new, add-on facility coding features to its online code lookup tool: AAPC Coder – an all-inclusive search engine for CPT®, ICD-9-CM, ICD-10, and HCPCS Level II medical codes. New access to the ICD-9 and HCPCS Coding Clinic, Facility Coder, and DRG Coder allow more accuracy and access for facility coders.
“These new tools help assure defensible, easy-to-use ways to manage complicated facility coding. It means facilities can now learn what outpatient providers have already discovered,” Bevan Erickson, president, Member Solutions, said. “The simplicity, completeness, and ease of AAPC Coder are a huge boon to managing the revenue stream.”
AHA ICD-9 and HCPCS Coding Clinic
The American Hospital Association’s (AHA) ICD-9 Coding Clinic add-on allows users to look up the ICD-9-CM code set’s official, authoritative quarterly reference. The HCPCS Coding Clinic lookup offers consistent and accurate advice for the proper use of HCPCS; it includes information on HCPCS reporting for hospitals using HCPCS Level 1 (CPT®) and Level II codes, the latest code assignments from emerging technologies, and real examples.
Outpatient Facility Coder
The Outpatient Facility Coder provides coding and reimbursement tools needed by outpatient facility coders and CDI experts. The tool allows users to view the outpatient prospective payment system (OPPS) fee schedules for freestanding ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) and hospital based outpatient services in one place. Users can identify the applicable modifiers, status indicators, and payment indicators for each CPT® code. For procedures requiring devices, users can view if there is a credit adjustment policy for the device, avoid bundling, and determine proper modifier use by using the OPPS correct coding initiative (CCI) checker feature for up to 25 codes at one time.
DRG Coder provides coding and reimbursement tools needed for inpatient coders and CDI experts. It includes ICD-10-PCS GEMS and reimbursement mapping crosswalks; a quick view of DRGs that differ solely based on patient condition, alerting staff of comorbidities qualifying for greater payment; and forward and backward mapping. Users also receive Inpatient Coding & Compliance Alert, a newsletter helping to improve documentation compliance with changes, tips, and pitfall warnings.
