Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) April 02, 2014
This Saturday at six in the morning, when the rest of Los Angeles is sleeping, the ground will shudder. Hopefully not by another earthquake, but, instead, by the pitter patter of thousands of feet pounding the Walk of Fame in the Hollywood Half Marathon. Within this herd, Miss Norway 2014, Kim MacKenzie, and fiancé, voice over actor, Spike Spencer, run to support the Spark Program. Spark provides apprenticeships to middle school students in underserved communities, empowering them to succeed in their educational goals and beyond. Kim and Spike will take this mission to the streets of Hollywood, as they pound the pavement for 13.1 miles.
“Last year, I served as a Spark Mentor to two amazing girls with my company, The Body Archer. I couldn't do it again this year because I'm getting married, but, I wanted to be able to give back in some way,” states Kim MacKenzie. "I couldn't think of a better way to support her cause, than to run with her," adds Spike Spencer, "We're a team!"
The Hollywood Half Marathon will be Spike's first half marathon. Kim, an avid runner, has run four full marathons, including the LA Marathon three times. Last year, for the launch of her company, The Body Archer, Kim ran the LA Marathon to support Team Spina Bifida. And Spike was there to watch her cross the finish line! This weekend will mark her second half marathon.
"I am so blessed to not only have the ability to run marathons, which is no easy feat, but to use them as a platform to raise awareness,” exclaims Kim, “And, to cross the finish line with the man I love… Well, that’s just the cherry on top!”
