Fattah Applauds Launch of UCSF Brain Health Registry
WASHINGTON, April 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), a Senior Member on the House Appropriations Committee and architect of the Fattah Neuroscience Initiative, released the following statement on the announcement that the University of California-San Francisco will launch a new online brain research registry:
“I commend UCSF for launching this innovative new tool that has the potential to transform the way clinical trials are conducted as we continue to seek treatments and cures for brain diseases.
“Clinical research trials, including volunteer recruitment, are often some of the most costly and time-intensive processes in our study of the human brain, and the delays involved are an impediment to progress in uncovering new treatments. This registry uses technology and the internet to revolutionize clinical trials and neuroscience research.
“UCSF is one of our nation’s strongest medical and research institutions and I commend their leadership, and collaboration with private sector businesses and philanthropic organizations in funding this new project. I know this initiative will be successful and I look forward to watching its growth and expansion. It’s because of innovations like the Brain Health Registry that we will see considerable progress over the next decade in our fight against brain disease and disorders.”
