Karen Riedel, Ph.D., has been enjoying a rich and rewarding career in speech and language pathology for more than 40 years. As Director of Speech Language Pathology at New York University Medical Center, Dr. Riedel oversees the direction and goals of a department celebrated for its innovative approach to patient progress and department agendas.
Under the direction of Dr. Riedel, the department has been successful in changing lives through setting, monitoring and implementing guidelines for speech and pathology programs. She has a reputation for encouraging her staff and instilling confidence in their abilities, which has resulted in groundbreaking approaches towards successful and lasting results. As a testament to her professionalism and effectiveness, Dr. Riedel was responsible for relocating, transforming and organizing her department after Superstorm Sandy.
With compassion and understanding as the cornerstone of her pursuit for personal and professional fulfillment, Dr. Reidel, who received her Ph.D. from The Graduate Center, The City University of New York, has succeeded in bringing a unique empathy to her role as director where she is a trusted mentor for all.
